Wednesday-TORONTO Departure from Toronto's Pearson Airport (Terminal
3) to Tel Aviv on Air France, departing at 7:05 pm via Paris.
Thursday-TEL AVIV Arrive in Tel Aviv at 4:00pm where we will be met
by our tour guide and will be transferred to our hotel in Tel Aviv.
Dinner and overnight at the Renaisance Tel Aviv.
Friday - TEL AVIV/JAFFA/CAESAREA/MT. CARMEL/MEGIDDO We begin our tour
in Jaffa (Yafo) which affords us a breathtaking view of the city of
Tel Aviv. At this picturesque port city of winding alleys, art galleries
and crafts boutiques, King Solomon had the cedars of Lebanon rafted
for the building of the First Temple in Jerusalem. You will view the
spot of the House of Simon the Tanner. Drive along the Mediterranean
coast to Caesarea Maritime, capital of the Roman Procurators of Judea.
We will visit the remains of the aqueduct, theatre and Crusaders' moat.
History abounds in Caesarea: Herod built the city, Pontius Pilate had
his base here, Cornelius lived and was baptized here (Acts 10), Paul
embarked for Tarsus from here (Acts 9:30), and Philip preached here
(Acts 8:40). Continue along the Mediterranean coast line to Haifa and
ascend to Mt. Carmel where you will see the magn- ificent view of the
bay, Bahai Gardens and the seaport. Continue to Mt. Carmel, the spot
where Elijah defeated the prophets of Baal. (1 Kings 18:20) Continue
to Megiddo, one of King Solomon's walled cities mentioned in the Bible.
It is also associated with Armageddon as related in the Book of Revelations.
We will visit the archaeological exca-vations from 20 periods of time
and walk through the tunnel built by King Ahab in the 10th B.C. Drive
through the lush hills of the Galilee to Tiberias. Dinner and overnight
at the Ein Gev Guest House on the Sea of Galilee.
Saturday - JESUS' MINISTRY IN GALILEE/TIBERIAS /JORDAN RIVER After
breakfast touring is dedicated to the holy sites around the Sea of Galilee.
Our tour begins with a boat trip from Tiberias to Capernaum, centre
of Jesus' Galilean ministry and the town "from whence came "disciples
Matthew, Simon, Andrew, James and John. Visit the ancient synagogue
and view the site of the house of Peter. We visit Tabgha, the site of
the multiplication of loaves and fishes and the feeding of the five
thousand; The Mt. Of Beatitudes, the place of the "Sermon on the Mount:
and visit the church. Drive to the Golan Heights to Banias at the foot
of Mount Hermon-one of the 3 sources of the Jordan River., the spot
of Caesarea Phillipi the most northern limit of Jesus ministry. We stop
at Yardanit to see the Jordan River where you have a chance to be baptized
in the Jordan. Dinner and overnight at the Ein Gev Guest House on the
Sea of Galilee.
Sunday - NAZARETH/ BEIT SHEAN Drive this morning to Cana, where Jesus
performed his first miracle at The Wedding Celebration. We drive to
Nazareth and visit Mary's Well in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation.
We will visit Nazareth Village which depicts an authentic Galilee village
from the time of Jesus. Here we will experience the magnificent beauty
of ancient archaeological sites. We now drive to Beit Shean and visit
the archaeological site which has the most extensive Roman city exposed
in Israel. Visit the ancient Roman theatre and walk the colonnaded streets
from the times of the Romans. We conclude by heading South where we
will get our first glimpse of the Holy City, Jerusalem! Dinner and overnight
at The Olive Tree Hotel in Jerusalem.
Monday - OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM Drive to the Mt. of Olives with an outstanding
view of the Old City and surrounding area. Descend the Mount and visit
the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of all Nations. We will spend
the rest of the day exploring the Old City of Jerusalem. First we view
the City of David, located south of the city walls before ascending
to Mt. Zion. Visit the Upper Room and King David's Tomb and St. Peter's
in Gallincantu built on top of the High Priest Caiphas' House. Enter
through the Zion gate and visit the Jewish quarter and walk along the
Roman/Byzantine street called the Cardo. Visit the Western Wall, Judaism's
holiest site. View the Temple Mount and see the Dome of the Rock and
the Al Aksa Mosque, Islams' holy site. Walk along the Via Dolorosa stopping
to visit the Chapel of the Flagellation, Pilate's Judgment Hall and
the Ecce Homo Chapel. Visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Exit Jaffa
Gate via exotic bazaars. We will end this rewarding day with a visit
to the Garden Tomb or Gordon's Calvary. Dinner and overnight at The
Olive Tree Hotel in Jerusalem.
Tuesday - NEW CITY OF JERUSALEM We begin our day by viewing the Southern
steps of the temple and walk on the original road from the First Century.
Visit the Model City which explains "the look" of Jerusalem during the
time of Jesus. We then continue to Yad Vashem, Israel's memorial to
the Holocaust. Tour the complex and walk alsong the Avenue of the Righteous,
where trees have been planted to commemorate the many Christians who
helped save lives of Jews during World War II. Continue to the Israel
Musuem and visit the Shrine of the Book which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Drive to Bethlehem, birthplace of JESUS and King David and visit the
Church of the Nativity, the oldest church in the world Dinner and overnight
at The Olive Tree in Jerusalem.
Wednesday, March 29 QUMRAN/MASADA/DEAD SEA Today is a fun day. We drive
to the lowest spot on earth where the Jordan River empties into the
Dead Sea, 1292 feet below sea level. Stop at Qumran, site of the Dead
Sea Scrolls discovered in 1947 and visit the remains of the Essene community.
Drive to Masada and ascend the cable car to King Herod's fortress'/palace
which was the scene of the last hold out of the Jewish resistance to
the Romans in 70AD before the band committed suicide to avoid capture.
Continue to Ein Gedi for an opportunity of floating in the therapeutic
waters of the Dead Sea. Dinner and overnight at The Olive Tree Hotel
in Jerusalem.
Thursday - MADABA/MT. NEBO/KERAK Drive from Jerusalem to the Allenby
Bridge. Departure via the Kings highway to Petra, visiting en route
the mosaic city of Madaba, where the oldest map of the Holy Land exists
on the floor of St. George's Cathedral. Mt. Nebo, the traditional burial
site of Moses overlooking the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Continue
southwards via the breathtaking scenery of Wadi Mujib to visit the Crusader
Castle at Kerak. Dinner and overnight at The Petra Panorama Hotel in
Petra.
Friday - PETRA A full day dedicated to the visit of the lost Nabatean
city of Petra. Start with a morning ride on a Bedouin guided horse,
you'll pass through the fabled SIQ, an immense sandstone gorge which
opens out to reveal the Treasury. Contine on to gaze at hundreds of
ancient temples, royal tombs, Roman theatres and houses. Drive to Amman,
the capital of Jordan for dinner and overnight at the Imperial Palace.
Saturday - CANADA Transfer to Amman Airport for your Air France flight
to Toronto departing at 6:40 am via Paris. Arrive in Toronto at 2:35
